    Default HK Mark 23

I have a chance to buy one of these for $1,000.

The price sounds to good to be true from the prices I've seen on the auctions. I'm thinking of buying this gun through a friend of his who I know personally. Supposedly this has a silencer with it, but I'm pretty sure it's only a fake suppressor.

But if it is a silencer can I buy the gun and then pay the $200 tax stamp?
Any other information on this gun would be appreciated.

The gun + suppressor could be purchased together, but you could not take posession of the suppressor until the transfer forms have cleared.

JayBell's thread on the NFA basics would be a good read in the case that you do go through this process.

you arent going to get a HK MK23 for $1000 with ANY real suppressor...and I find it kind of unlikely a MK23 can be had for $1K these days.

a Knights suppressor is $1400 for the can
a Bowers is almost $800, as is a SWR HEMS and others...

I paid $1200 for my MK23 about 7 years ago...and that was a killer deal.

if you can get it for $1K, do it.

if it has a real can with it, and is included, RUN FAR FAST.

I just hope it's not stolen.
The person I am going through is an upstanding person who hires me as a sub-contractor.
    If I think/feel it's stolen I won't go near it.

I'd Jump all over that deal for a Mk.23 especially with a suppressor for that price. Heck even if you never use it and it sits in a safe for a few years, its value will just go up due to the Mk.23 being discontinued.

I'll repeat here for Agent...if you see a MK23 for $1k with a suppressor, its stolen, or something.

urent MK23 prices used are about $1800, thats with no LAM or Can,just the gun, case and mags.

Add $700-1400 for the can, $200 ATF transfer....$1200 for a Wilson LAM....

if you can get the gun for $1K, DO IT.
I'll bet its got a fake can with it.

meanwhile, i'll remember to give my MK23 and Bowers ATAS can a hug when i get home:-)

If it has a fake suppressor I'll probably buy it.
If it has a real one I'll assume the gun is stolen and stay away from it.

I used to work in a Harley Shop many years ago and I put up a sign that read "If Nobody Bought STOLEN Bike Parts, There Would Be No Reason To Steal Them".
And that's the way I feel about everything.

I guess if you really wanted too you could run the serial by the state police and see what they say. And if the guy wont give you the serial number well thats enough of a answer.

Is anyone aware of any adapter that will allow the fitting of a laser/light from other makers besides the standard L.A.M on the HK Mk 23?
I tried to fit the adapter made by streamlight for the HK Full size on an MK 23 and it won't fit. Apparently the MK 23 has a wider rail and the underside of the rail is thicker.

The MK 23 is a phenomenal firearm, but it is also massive in size.
Fake can or not, if you can grab that gun for a $1000, DO IT...
And then work on getting a real can later.
If it is a real suppressor, you can take the gun, but cannot actually take possession of the suppressor until you receive your tax stamp.
The gun is certainly worth it.
