    Why not just get your ACT 120 and be done with it ?

    This is true,but need to P/T till a fulltime opens.I know several P/T Officers that work two depts at the same time making thier 40 hours plus.

    The only exemptions are for PA municipal LEOs. States like PA where COs are not sworn and do not go through a basic mandated Police Academy, so a CO's certification along with $1.50 will get you a cup of coffee.

    Physical infirmities don't matter unless you cannot perform the baton and handcuffing portions, within that, it's up to the instructor to sign off on your sheet to send in.

    Private security, unless you have a good gig, is a thankless, boring, and high turnover profession in many areas. Clients are assholes and companies have management that never had boots on the ground and have no clue about physical security. If you can find a good gig, then that's great. Most good gigs are eaten up by high threat specialists that have more training than you have schooling and more experience than you and all your friends put together. The best advise was already given, if you want a decent career in public safety, become a LEO.
