Default What's in your bleeder kit on your SHTF rig?

So, is an Army IFAK with shears enough (NSN 6545-01-530-0929) or should I be putting something else in there?

Any recommendations on a good supplier for a IFAK?

One suggestion as an add-on, would be the newer blood clotting bandages that have been developed.

A militaray cravat would be a good idea. Quick clot is a 50/50 product IMHO.
Cleaning that out of a largr deep wound is bad. If you are really remote and 6 plus hours away from care would be the only time I would use it. It's heavy as well. My loaded FLC vest is heavy enough.

Try this link. It is spelled Q-U-I-K. Took me a while to figure out why I couldn't find it either. They also have a Quikclot Silver. It fights germs if you can't get to the hospital right away. It is a bit more expensive, but if you really need it, it probably is worth it.

Only carry stuff you have been trained to use. Simple things can cause more harm if you really don't know how to use them.

I built my own. No pics at the moment, but it goes almost everywhere with me, but if the SHTF it would go to (it's molle attached).

    Gloves - 3 pairs
    Celox 35gm pack
Celox A (this is the one designed for penetrating injuries and allows you to inject the agent into the wound
    Asherman Chest Seal
    Nasal airways - 28,32,36
    14g catheter
    Israeli bandage (tourniquet)
    3" Kerlix rolls (2)
    3" medical tape
    Reinforced Steri-Strips
    Trauma Shears
    6" Straight forceps
    Reinforced Steri-Strips
    CPR Micro-Shield
    Bite Stick
That covers it for the Ventilated Operator - Anything that can be brightly colored, is - Red shears, orange CPR mask, purple gloves, green Israeli bandage, yellow bite stick, I colored the chest seal package with blue highlighter, the Celox-A is in a red package. That way, I can just say "hand me the (insert color here) thing!"

    I also have-
Lots of Band Aids, 4X4s, Neosporin, Tylenol, Benedryl, Space Blanket, Alcohol Wipes, etc - basic first aid stuff.

I've been buying a lot of my FA stiff through buyEMP.com -the prices are good, they have a good reputation, and they ship fast. I've put together 3 identical kits, one for me, one for my wife, and one for the guy I shoot with most of the time. I've also put some pretty stout vehicle kits together.
