legality of loaded long guns in a vehicle?
I see plenty of people talking about keeping a "truck gun" abs I'm wondering what the law had to say about it. I was under the impression a loaded long gun in the car was a legal no-go. If someone could link me to a legal document of sorts, so I'm not quoting "some guy on the Internet" when I get pulled over with my AR.

No loaded long guns or shot guns in a vehicle, even with a LTCF...
http://reference.pafoa.org/statutes/...than-firearms/
18 Pa.C.S. § 6106.1: Carrying loaded weapons other than firearms
(a) General rule.-- Except as provided in Title 34 (relating to game), no person shall carry a loaded pistol, revolver, shotgun or rifle, other than a firearm as defined in section 6102 (relating to definitions), in any vehicle. The provisions of this section shall not apply to persons excepted from the requirement of a license to carry firearms under section 6106(b)(1), (2), (5) or (6) (relating to firearms not to be carried without a license) nor shall the provisions of this section be construed to permit persons to carry firearms in a vehicle where such conduct is prohibited by section 6106. (b) Penalty.--A person who violates the provisions of this section commits a summary offense. While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.

Some guy on the Internet says NO! Don't do it!
Give me a minute to look up a real reference unless someone beats me to it.
Truck guns are mostly meant for private property as far as I know

Wow the responses here have been fantastic! Thank you very much. I perused pafoa.org/law but didn't find an expedient answer so I figured I'd ask. Thanks to everyone!

Re: legality of loaded long guns in a vehicle?
A Short Barreled Rifle is considered a firearm and can be carried loaded with a LTCF. But that requires NFA paperwork, lengthy processing, and a $200 tax stamp.
(b) Penalty.--A person who violates the provisions of this section commits a summary offense."Firearm." Any pistol or revolver with a barrel length less than 15 inches, any shotgun with a barrel length less than 18 inches or any rifle with a barrel length less than 16 inches, or any pistol, revolver, rifle or shotgun with an overall length of less than 26 inches. The barrel length of a firearm shall be determined by measuring from the muzzle of the barrel to the face of the closed action, bolt or cylinder, whichever is applicable.
AR "pistols" allow you to carry the 5.56 round. Not as good as a rifle. But with the right sling and technique it can be effective well beyond defensive distances.
But allot of guys truck guns are a rifle carbine in a case with external mag pouches.
I got the Allen Tactical Rifle Case for range use and if I needed a "truck gun" for my hatchback.
