    Default Scent control for boots?

Any one know of any tips on how to get rid of the new rubber smell for new boots? I've been spraying my new boots down with scent killer but that hasn't really done much. I'm going to start wearing them hiking too so hopefully that helps but are there any other good tips?

I usually wash the boots with scent killing soap, then let them air dry for a few days. Before I go out in the woods, I spay myself down with scent killer.

One of the areas that I hunt requires me to enter through an apple orchard.... At the far end is usually a large pile of apples that have been discarded (not suitable for sale/human consumption). I make it a point to stop there and stomp through that pile to make sure the smell is masked.

If a deer's nose works in any way like a dog's nose does, none of that stuff will work. Only encasing yourself in a zip lock bag will work...and only for a little while till your odor permeates the bag...not to mention, the deer will smell the bag.

A cover scent may work better than a scent eliminator if you think it's necessary to use something.

If you need to be spayed you have bigger issues than deer smelling you.

I've worn fluorescent orange, no scent killer or special suits, etc., and had deer walk within 7 yards of me. I'm no expert hunter either, but I stand STILL. For my money, animals usually "see" something on radar, before they seriously activate their olfactory sensors

All that said, I don't think I would want to walk into the woods with the strong smell of rubber. As I recall, I had a cheap pair of boots that were the most comfortable I've worn for walking, but they STANK!

When I clean plastic coolers, or anything of that nature, the best way to rid them of odor is to let them bake in the sun! It might be a bit late in the year for hot sun, but it's worth a go.
Honey, sell my guns for what they're worth and not what I told you I paid for them.
