    Default Looking for Garand 'smith

I have a shooter Garand and want to put a new barrel on her, and get her checked out. Couple of locals I talked to don't or can't do it. I won't trust the mail to ship it, rather drop off to a local and spend my money on a local guy if I can.

I'm in Berks County....anybody have any leads? Willing to travel 50 miles or so if I have to.

The fella I used to go to just moved to Sellersville. I'm not sure where that is in relation to you. If it's within your driving distance, I can post his new contact info for you. He's a great guy, with tons of experience, and definately knows his way around a Garand.

I don't know if there is a local shop but at almost ever locak gun show I go to, from Harrisburg to Jim Thorpe, there are always the same two guys with a small table that only work on / sell Garand's. We have talked with them a few times and found them very nice and extreamly knowledgeable.

If you dont find a place before the next show, look for them. I'm sure they can help.

Other suggestion would be to contact the kings of Garand's = CMP to see if they can recommand a good smith.

    Good Luck!

Starblazer, Sellersville is do-able, just map-quested the area...you have the contact info?

phillyd2, I have seen and talked to the 2 guys you are talking about, I even got a business card from a show, they are way up north somewhere if I remember right. I was going to use them as a last resort.

    Thanks for the quick replies!

His name is John Robinson. He just teamed up with Lowe's Certified Guns. He used to be in Lower Southampton. http://www.lowescertifiedguns.com/
    Hope this helps.

I agree on John Robinson, hes done a lot of custom work for me.
Hes still setting up his shop from the move, but should be up and running soon.
Hope so, I dropped off a Benelli M1S90 barrel to have chopped to 10 inches recently, hope to have it back soon:-0

Do you also work on AK? I've got a Hungarian kit that needs to be put together.
