Re: Graphic content in thread titles
OK. Let me make it more clear....and I truly do mean this with respect and do not mean to belittle you or make any assumptions about your character.
It did not appear offensive for you to post in "Future Female Serial Killer", "Am I a Butthole", "This just might ruin porn for you....", and "Catholic Priests..some of the most crooked and sick individuals".
"Raping babies" is offensive.
I get it. On a personal note, I work with abused kids all the time. Yeah, it's not a nice taste to my palette either, but exactly WHERE would we draw the line here? Profanity is pretty clear and easy to enforce. What is offensive to the majority of the membership is very, very subjective.
If I delete the thread that offends you, I'd also certainly have to delete those other threads.
Whenever there is a policy to keep someone from being offended, someone else loses some freedoms.
Personally, I typically stay out of the Lounge so I don't internally cringe.

"Sucked in"? In all honestly, what I say doesn't matter...... as an official rule change will have to come through a staff meeting or an official admin ruling. I'm challenging your logic in terms of what is "offensive".
Rhetorical? I'm not looking to persuade or influence anyone with an agenda here. You posted in those threads. You saw the thread title and then clicked in....and then posted. I find those threads somewhat controversial in terms of being inflammatory (on a personal note....not by the forum rules).
I just asked the question.....How would we enforce what you are proposing?

Re: Graphic content in thread titles
the exact same way you do anything else. someone busted the guy for swearing in the title for the petco/racist/obama thread the other day. if someone writes "infant raped to death" you do the same thing. treat 'baby raped to death' exactly as a swear word.
its that simple. i fail to see why thats so hard and 'unreasonable' as some put it.

Re: Graphic content in thread titles
Actually, that was me. I pointed out the violation as it didn't appear to be a blatant violation of the rules. The OP changed the title. There was never an infraction.
So...you propose baby-rape to be listed as inappropriate content. That is more descript than your original post and it holds some merit. The problem is where if I give everyone the same consideration for every thread title that is "offensive". I mean, honestly, I'm sure a lot of Catholics were offended by one of those threads I cited as well as many pious people who feel they shouldn't have to see "porn" in a thread title on a firearms forum....eventually you are mired under policy that only allows you to post "Thread I posted" in order to be politically correct and not offend anyone.
That's an extreme example, but I can cite several real-world policies that mirror this sentiment.
Honestly, I'm not trying to hassle you or single you out. I'm trying to show you the other side of the coin where a moderator has to weigh the rights of those who are silent, yet have the same consideration in terms of the the rules that you deserve.

Re: Graphic content in thread titles
i would honestly prefer a small list of offensive content, but if i could only choose one, i'd take the most extreme....baby rape. so yes, if that were on the list, i'd be satisfied.
thanks for listening
