    Default Beretta 92 L Compact

Friend of mine is looking at a Beretta 92 G compact. I am not familiar with this model? What is the G designation? Anyone own or know of. It is supposedly pristine, 50-100 rounds through it and they are asking $500???? He is new to guns and trying to see if it is a good deal. Thanks

According to Wiki, the G is a special duty Government model. From the same info, it is the sidearm the Florida Highway Patrol uses.

BCM and Glock...for a bigger pile of 'cold dead hands' brass.

Thanks, I saw that on the French Military - I assumed that was the full size model? Just haven't seen or heard much about a G - and wasn't sure if $500 like new was good or not - seemed average to me ?

It would also appear that the French chosen model has only a decocker lever that does not lock in the down position (???) but returns to the fire position (I kinda thought all of them did that) and has no external safety. Sounds like a complicated explanation for 'the decocker is not also a safety'. To me, and it's just my opinion, that's a true carry gun with DA/SA...decocker and no external safety.

Not only does the price look to be fair, but thanks to you, I am no longer a Beretta noob.

    That sounds appealing.
The FS decocker that can get switched to safe too easily by accident always turned me off of them.

Thanks all. Gave him my opinion and your thoughts. I told him I'd go for it! If he doesn't, maybe I will - lol. Then again, Bud has the compact in inox for $617 - hmmmmm, I do like it!
