45 Commander...which one?
I'm looking at commanders. It won't be my everyday carry gun. The budget is $1500. I have a Remington R1S and love the gun. I've been leaning towards another Remington the R1 Carry Commander but the price and availability are in question. $1150 was the price quote from my LGS. And of course trying to find one is another story. It's a gun that is more about looks than function. I have a function gun that's may EDC. This is to fit in to my collection for the "nice gun" factor. An Ed Brown Custom Carry would be the perfect fit but if I dropped 3 grand on a gun ....well it would not be a good thing. So let's get some thoughts. Is the Remington worth it? Is there another commander out there with that sex appeal of the EB? Thanks for the input.

Re: 45 Commander...which one?
I can tell you what my choice for a Commander 1911 is, Ruger SR1911. Well under your price cap, and IMO, a great value for the features you get. It's also a nice looking gun, I really dig the look of a stainless 1911. All that being said, if you want commander size, and aren't 100% set on a 1911, the Sig P220 Compact is very similar in size, and they are an excellent pistol as well.

I'll second the SR1911 commander. I've handled one at LGS and fit and finish were very good for the price @ $700, which is well below your budget.

I'll third the Ruger SR1911 commander - in fact, buy two for the money!
They look pretty out of the box and shoot even better.
My second choice would be one of the Sig 1911's (I like their traditionals, but they don't have it in a commander size).

I would look at the sti lineup very hard! at that price point you could wind up with a VERY nice and accurate piece with an excellent warranty to boot if ever needed(which I doubt).

Re: 45 Commander...which one?
get a colt if you can.I just got a used combat commander made in 1970 in about 95% condition for under $900.great shooter and if you take care of it you'll never lose money.colts hold their value.I have 3 a delta elite 10mm from the 80's a combat elite from the 90's and my combat comander from the 70's all great shooters with zero problems.you can pay more and there nothing wrong with the other makes it just there something different about a colt.best advice always is GET WHAT YOU WANT AND YOUR HAPPY WITH CAUSE AT THE END OF THE DAY YOUR PAYING THE BILLS. SO GO GET WHAT YOU WANT.any well made 1911 will serve you well.HOPE THIS HELPS CRAZYWOLF

Save $200 more and buy a VBOB.
You won't be disappointed.

Or spend half the budget on ammo and buy this one.

Why yes there is, cubbie: http://www.kimberamerica.com/1911/cr...imson-carry-ii
Sex appeal and then some. $1200 full list is extremely sexy.BCM and Glock...for a bigger pile of 'cold dead hands' brass.
