Re: NO GUNS at the Bloomsburg Fair
Having dealt with DHS/TSA and PSP in the past (i.e. since DHS's existance and PSP for 37+ years), one thing comes to mind...It doesn't surprise me one bit how they approached the fair personnel. DHS sometimes believes they are above the law, same goes for the others. I seldom talk down my "Brothers" but most times they are following orders from their supervisors and if they could, they'd rather not hassle the public.
Hope what is written about the LTC is correct.

Re: NO GUNS at the Bloomsburg Fair
So he agrees it's a violation of gun owner's rights, but he did it anyway because why? DHS sent 7 "agents" to discuss it with him? He could have told the 7 of them to pound sand and thrown them out of his office if he wanted to.
Also, I'd be interested to know what agency these unidentified agents were from. There is no such thing as a "DHS agent." The Department of Homeland Security is composed of seven different agencies: Customs & Border Protection, Citizenship & Immigration Services, the Coast Guard, FEMA, ICE, the Secret Service, and the TSA. Exactly which one of these organizations does "Local Fair Security" fall under?
Call me a skeptic, but I find this whole story hard to swallow. So DHS sent not one, not two, but seven agents to an obscure private fair because Columbia County, PA is such a hotbed of terrorist activity? I'd believe the PSP story before this one.Steve: NJ State Trooper #3936 (retired), NRA LE Firearms Instructor

Re: NO GUNS at the Bloomsburg Fair
Steve,
Having dealt with TSA since it's inception, my guess would be TSA. All regulatory, no enforcement abilities. Things go to their heads...

Sounds like he made a rash liberal decision and is trying to cover his ass.

Re: NO GUNS at the Bloomsburg Fair
^ this is exactly what happened. I am sure they are going to have a no guns sign at the door and no mention of allowing in gun owners that are permitted to conceal leagally. Then the first time some jackass reports someone for printing they will be arrested for trespassing because of their sign. They should either admit they goofed up and drop it or put up a sign like gander mtn has where it says their gun regulations do not apply to people legally carrying openly or concealed.
