My dad's 45 falls in the recall numbers. Good thing he has another edc piece for when he sends it back.

    Thanks for the heads up!

Mine falls into the category as well. It is unfired so I don't know if it does the whole double fire thing but I have ran a few mags through it by hand to check the cycling and nothing happened. This stuff annoys me but I'm glad they are doing something about it.

I have a question....when shipping a firearm back to a manufacturer are you REQUIRED to notify the shipping company that it's a gun? Do they mark it with any identifying labels that could potentially make you a target of theft?

No in regards to labeling. Fed Ex and UPS ask that you not put any firearms notification or any hint that there could be firearms in the box written on the box or labeled.

As per Fed Ex and UPS regs if I recall correctly you are required to notify the employee the box has a firearm in it, but that's it.

In this case Springfield gives you a prepaid Fed Ex shipping label.

Thanks, I'm gonna have to call them. My printer broke and I'm not running out to buy one just for this.

So, how are you guys packaging your XDs? Just wrapping it up in bubble wrap? In a padded envelope then in the box? In the factory case then in a box? I have never shipped a firearm, so not sure what to do. I already have my shipping label, but I'm on vacation right now, so need to wait til I get home on Monday to clean as per the instructions and package up to ship Tues.

Hey, buddy, I know I don't have to say it, but please be careful cycling them through by hand. In case you misread that, it's not only double fire, but
This is a voluntary safety recall for a very rare problem that causes the gun to fire when chambering a round...
I'd hate to read about you having an accident.

    Ken
