Default Open carry in York issue.

Right on the instruction form it says the following:

"Overt and unnecessary display of your firearm in public places can cause alarm to the public and may result in revocation of your permit."

Should I be concerned? Should we try to get this changed?

I don't think I'd say you should be 'concerned', but you should educate yourself on the issue in case you would run into a LEO who has an objection. Now the good news: You came to the right place!

There are two cases from the PA Supreme Court that clearly establish that OC is legal (Commonwealth v. Hawkins & Commonwealth v. Ortiz). Further, there is no statute that prohibits it. If you get revoked for the mere act of OC without any other criminal actions, I believe you have a very strong case to overturn the revocation on appeal. Whether or not you are willing to accept the 'risk' and oppose an improper revocation if it would occur is a personal decision that you will need to make.

There is an OC lunch in Gettysburg on May 25. If you'd like to try out OC with a group of others who already OC frequently, this would be a great opportunity to come out and see for yourself how much of a 'non-event' OC really is.

Concerned? Maybe. If revoked for mere OC it would be an improper revocation. BUT, an appeal would be needed to get it restored.

YES. I've been meaning to take this up with Sheriff Keuerleber. OC training memo

and a note about how the statement on the LTCF info card is misleading and borderline "official oppression".
