    Studs that are 18" apart.....

    When I bought my house I found out the bathroom had been leaking a while and since the bathroom doesn't sit over the basement I guess it went w/o being noticed. Well the floor was horrible and as I have had the time I have been tearing it down. Well..... replaced all the rotten wood, new sub floor is in... replaced the insulation. Now I'm hanging drywall and all the studs are 18" apart!!!! The bathroom is 5'x6' and I cant even use a whole sheet of drywall.....

    Hanging drywall never bothered me too much. It was the joint work and smoothing that I hated..........

    I've never hung drywall, but I do use nails and a hammer quite often beause I like to decorate and redecorate. I have to constantly plaster the holes in my walls since I'm HORRIBLE at finding studs...

    Same goes for my love life.

    well there is a quick and easy solution to that, go to Home Depot and look around. You just might find a handy stud that would help you hang everything for you!!!

    If anything, you could just pick up a stud finder...

    18" is an odd distance for studs. 16" being standard distance, but some builders use a distance a touch over 19 3/16". On measuring tapes, it is indicated with a diamond. When using the diamond distance one less stud is used in an 8' span.
