    What are peoples choices of shotgun ammo for home defense?

    I believe the consensus is to go with at least #4 buckshot or larger; birdshot may not penetrate far away to stop the assailant. Many people recommend OO buckshot. Slugs are another option.

    Another factor is overpenetration; if you live in an apartment building, then going with the smaller-shot size (e.g., #4 buckshot) might be better. If you live in a house with strong exterior walls (brick or concrete), then larger shot sizes may be more appropriate.

    I use Federal Tactical 00 buck. It has a tight group even at 15 yards. It is reduced recoil so the velocity is lower. Not a large amount of over penetration compared to standard 00 buck.
    For the true Warrior the fear of dying in battle is never as great as the fear of being unworthy to enter into it.

    i have 12gauge K.O. slugs in my home gun, nothin like 1.5oz of lead

    I have Federal Tactical 00 Buck and slugs at the ready for my Mossberg 500. The sheer size and weight of the slug is simply devestating, but for many cases I think I prefer the forgiveness of the 00 buck.

    tested it last week at 10yds Opens about 6" total.

    No 1 buckshot is considered the ideal for SD/HD. 2 3/4 is plenty...you dont need 3"
