UFA Violation - Lake Lenape Park - Sellersville Borough
Hey All,
I discovered a UFA violation today while walking the Lake Lenape Park in Sellersville (Bucks County). I emailed the Borough about the violation and will update here with their response. I searched and didn't find any threads about Sellersville here.
I sent the email only about the park, not thinking it may be broader than that. I then realized that their Ord. No. 385 is the problem (from 1969).
The sign in question is attached here.
Hopefully they will address this problem with the sign, and their outdated ordinance. [Maybe I'm being too optimistic? The mayor is a member of our favorite group - we shall see].
UPDATE - They are forwarding my email to the Borough's solicitor, whoever that is.
P.S. - To continue my roll of spotting UFA violations, I recently saw a sign at the Hatfield Township Nature Area that was incorrect with respect to carrying. They changed their code a few years ago (thanks to a member here) and changed the signs that I've seen to reflect the updated code. I think they just missed the signs for the Nature Area and they replied to me that they will take care of the problem! UPDATE - All Hatfield Township Park signs are now in compliance!Last edited by jthrelf; August 27th, 2013 at 12:11 PM.

Yup, I spotted the error immediately. No immoral actions? What were they thinking?

Re: UFA Violation - Lake Lenape Park - Sellersville Borough
43 year old law, but that's not really that unusual. There are some really old laws still on the books for many municipalities. I was checking some of the regs that are online for municipalities near me and found one for Downingtown Borough, still on the books, from 1896. It dealt with discharge of firearms, so I don't think preemption applies, but just the fact that the law is still there is kind of bizarre. I'm sure there's even older ones out there that are still active as well.
Oh, I also discovered that it's illegal to sell water pistols in Coatesville, PA as well. Wonder if they enforce that one.
