    Default SBR in Lancaster Co.

Are there any problems getting a CLEO sign off in Lancaster Co. I was thinking of SBR'ing a semi-auto PPS43 that I'm thinking about building. How is the Sheriff with signing off on NFA items?

When we called the Lancaster County Sheriff Department a few weeks ago with a questionaire they were not friendly towards NFA unfortunately.

This doesn't mean it's impossible it just means when we called they said they did not sign.

Well, it was a thought. I'll just extend the barrel. Although I understand that some guys are setting up trusts or LLC's to avoid the CLEO sign off. I guess that is one way to get around a hostile CLEO. It's unfortunate, but what else can one do. I know a couple of people that have NFA items and I wonder how they did it. Back in the '80's I was going to buy an MP-40. The dealer said that there would be no problem. However we had a different sheriff then.
I wish I would have bought the MP-40 then. It was $1500 with a new receiver tube. This was before the '86 law. Now they're a lot more expensive. Sigh.

There will be once we upgrade some software and post it.

A sneak preview can be seen in this thread.

I apologize that I have not been able to get this up and running as soon as originally planned, but them's the breaks.

As far as Adams county I have that as an unknown. Most likely the person who answered the phone had no idea what I was talking about. I will re-call all unknown counties at a later point.

Do you know the sheriff isnt the only LEO who can sign. Your local PD or PSP barracks, even the DA of your county can sign. That isnt to say they will do it either but it wont hurt to try.

Yes, I know that there other officials who can sign. But who are they? It seems to me that if the sheriff won't sign, the others would be reluctant to do so. I think the whole CLEO is a load of crap. What's the point other than a power trip for an official. It seems to me that if you can legally purchase firearms and go thru the instant check why in God's name do you need some politico to say you are a good boy.
Which is why if I ever do decide to dive into NFA, I will create a trust. I'm sorry but we all have to kiss too much "you know what" from these guys. And I'm just tired of it. I'm a law abiding citizen and I don't need some politician to deny me my God given rights based on his political agenda. Sorry for the mini rant.

That's what I did in Philadelphia, my Sheriff wouldn't even meet with me to discuss it, heck he had his secretary tell me to get lost.

Now, even if I could get a signature I don't think I would. Corporate route is just easier and much less hassle.
