Default If I saw someone carrying a gun at walmart I'd........

Be outta there faster than govt cheese on double coupon day.....LOL. That was the answer I got from a co-worker who is very new to guns. She moved from california a few years ago and has a bad situation with an even worse ex-husband. She asked me to take her shooting a few months ago, and we had a good time, actually out shot me but I chalked it up to beginners luck.

Last week she asks "will you come with me to buy a pistol" Sure I say, but do me a favor and just for the hell of it get your LTCF like we talked about last month. Her answer floored me, " Oh I got last week so were good to go". Well she spent an hour in Gander MTN and did not buy the gun she was looking at, but we went shooting again and is leaning towards it I think. But when she asked how do you get to the point where you are comfortable carrying a gun with you all the time, I said it just takes time and you need to get used to it. My old man was a cop and I was in the .mil so they are nothing new to me. As we finished up handed over the brass to the nice looking bird with the rack that was collecting spentr casings, I told her i was headed to walmart for supplies for little bear's 2nd B-day. She was shoced that I was going to carry my gun in walmart, I said why not.

Thats when she said " If I saw some dude with a gun in walmart I'd be the fuck outta there like gov't cheese on WIC day". Made me laugh. But I was glad I got share some education and get her the opportunity to shoot and who knows maybe recruit a new member.

    Good story BB.

Funny thing is, the only time I have ever seen someone OC was at a W-mart.
My reaction? (to wife, in quiet, yet excited voice) "Hey, check it out... that guy in the checkout line is openly carrying his handgun!"

(waits 2 seconds... no reaction from said wife)
"The guy in the cowboy hat... check it out!"

(after what seems to be an eternity) Wife sez,(without ever looking, BTW)"That's nice. What kind of cookies do you want?"

    Sheesh!

This hypothetical Q will very often result in a negative answer.

In reality, she would not do this.

This is because that if they have never seen an OC'er they simply do not understand what one is. People not familiar with guns, or worse, branwashed into the guns=bad syndrome, will immediately conjure up a vision of some wild eyed cray toting a gun around, probably in their hand, looking like they are about to start shooting everything that moves.
When they DO actually see an OC'er they will react the same as everyone else.... essentially they won't react

This same logic applies to asking permission to OC (anywhere). Unless asked of a freedom/gun rights activist, the answer will always be NO.

Yes we are both hitched, to seperate people in fact. But she's working on a divorce. She had been brainwashed living in Southern California. BUt there was a really nice older couple at the range off rte 74 on the game lands. They offered water and let Nikki shoot the husbands glock, and were just generally really great people. She said she was surprised that there were such nice people at the range, snd that maybe all gun totin folk are not crazed redneck racists or gangbangers.

    P.S. P-11 I'll tryt to start a thread w/o a Hyp-Q later today. Maybe. But lets say I don't what then......?
