Default The deal that was hardest to walk away from

For me it was today. An on consignment 580 series Mini 14 with a scope for $650. Even if it was cheap glass I call that a hell of a deal. Funny I found that today because I was looking at a new Mini at Cabela's for $900 last night. If it's still there in a couple days I'm seriously considering going back and snagging it.

I love layaway! Bought many a guns that way, allowed me the option of not having to pass up a good deal and pay for it over 60-90 days.

I know, I know. I even have a prepaid credit card with a $100 on it. I'm thinking about going back when they open up and snagging it. Should hopefully be there considering the place was closing in about 10 minutes after I left.

About 3 months ago. LE trade in, Glock 19 Gen 3 with factory night sight, 3 mags, case, looked like new for 455 OTD. At the time I thought, I don't need this and passed. Still kicking myself. When I came across the same deal for a Gen 4 17 at 495 OTD a month later, I did not resist.

a couple of years ago i passed on a beautiful DSA FAL w/16" barrel, quad rail and sidefolding stock for 1300. the FAL was in mint condition and appeared to have been unfired or fired very little. i also had the chance to buy a colt anaconda that was sitting for months at one of my LGS and then the day i decided to buy it it was gone

I have missed out on many guns by thinking the same thing. If it is there next week.

I've seen Minis selling new for about $650 at Walmart. However, this was over a year ago. There is something very strange about Minis. Or perhaps I am missing something. There does seem to be a lot of disparity on the pricing of them.

    For me it was this:

    http://www.cannonsuperstore.com/hispanosuiza.html

Hispano 20mm Autocannon with 1000 rounds of high explosive tracer ammo. The explosive load in the ammo was 1 gram under the limit for explosive DD.

That deal will never be seen again.

A 7.62 NATO L2A1 Bren Gun set. It was the gun, the tripod, tool kit, 2 spare barrels and a chest of 30 Rd Magazines. The guy only wanted $5,000.00 for it. I had just bought my 1928A1 Thompson and was almost tapped out. I probably could have borrowed the money but I didn't want to do a loan. Damn! Still kicking myself in the arse for NOT going for it. This was in 1999.

ScotsGuards, do you remember the barn with "Muir Motor Museum" painted on the front on 711 north of Ligonier? When he died and they auctioned everything I could of had a 60's Forward Control Jeep Truck for $200. I was 17 and didn't have a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of. Still kickin myself.

So far no gun purchases I regret skipping.
