Default Able to carry concealed after permit expires?

Hey guys my permit just expired and I am currently waiting for a new one from Northampton county to come in the mail. I've heard that you are still allowd to carry concealed for 6 months after your permit expires if your not a prohibited person which I am not but I can't find any info on that in the PA UFA. if somebody can cite where it says that in any PA law that I am legally able to still carry that would be great. Thanks!

    Hope this clears it up.

    18 Pa.C.S. § 6106. (2) (b) Exceptions:
    12) A person who has a lawfully issued license to carry a firearm pursuant to section 6109 (relating to licenses) and that said license expired within six months prior to the date of arrest and that the individual is otherwise eligible for renewal of the license.

6106 is "Firearms not to be carried without a license." 2(b) is exceptions to that law. It's saying that you CAN carry on an expired license for 6 months following expiration.

Like most statutes, you have to read the whole thing to have a chance at understanding it. Like English, there is the rule and then there are the exceptions! And to further the aggravation, the pertinent information you are looking for is buried in with a bunch of other exceptions. Thus, even if you do happen to find it after much perusing, you probably are going to have to read it three times before you can come close to asking a cohesive and pertinent question about it; let alone understand it, lol.

If you take the word of the people at the Allegheny county sheriff's permit office instead of knowing the facts yourself, you will think that you can't carry. I've been told that every time I've had to renew!

I understand the 6 month thing, but the arrest part is troubling. I'd try to avoid my LTCF expiring.
