Finding it nearly impossible to find an NRA BIT class! Any suggestions? Advise?

Check the box of the discipline you wish to become an instructor in, and then select PA.There's no such thing as a free lunch.

Re: NRA Basic Instructor Training
Yup! Been there and checked the boxes and such.... however, I was told that the "first" thing required is the "Basic Instructor Training" course which is taken in person from an NRA Training Counselor... which is not specifically listed. I was told... you can't take an "Instructor" class in a specific discipline until the "BIT" is completed and that has to be through an NRA Training Counselor.

Re: NRA Basic Instructor Training
Most of the NRA instructor courses come with the BIT added on to the beginning. If there is a course listed that you want to take that doesn't include the BIT, I would call the training counselor and see if it is an oversight or if he can work in the BIT with you prior to the course.

Re: NRA Basic Instructor Training
Most of the places in PA that offer instructor training offer the BIT course either the day before the class or sometime during the month in order to cover several classes offered during that month. I would check with who ever you want to take the class with and see when they are offering the BIT.

Re: NRA Basic Instructor Training
Worst case scenario....
Get a group together, find the range necessary for your discipline, and arrange to 'contract' with the Training Counselor to come and do a raft of courses.
It may be less expensive pay for him/her to come to you than to send a bunch of folks on multiple days to their location.
The object is to saturate the Commonwealth with available courses, thus available instructors.
Problem is that it may take several months for all the schedules to jive, considering that we -also- have to have 'real' jobs to keep food on the table, etc.
