Took the kids out shootin', broke a shootin iron.
I took the kids out shooting yesterday and had a pretty good time at the SLCSFA. The kids did great and are getting pretty good at finding the middle of the targets.
We shot he SR1911 for the first time, I would recommend this gun to anybody. It shot nice and was pretty accurate, more accurate than I am for sure. Lol.
Also tried Tula 9mm ammo for the first time. It worked well in my P229 as well as my AR, no AMMO CAUSED failures of any kind. Until now I was always leery of using steel cased ammo in a non-Combloc gun. I now have NO problem with it.
Now the bad and why I said AMMO CAUSED failures above. Has anybody ever had a buffer tube break? While shooting the 9mm AR the damn buffer tube broke. While shooting the stock started to wobble real bad and the gun would not return to battery. I cleared the rifle and broke it down, once open the buffer detent and spring shot out, no clue where they went(too mad to look for them in the grass). The buffer tube split in the threads.
I ordered a new tube, detent, spring and wrench from Brownels last night and I think I know how to fix it but this is crazy.
When you screw the tube back in do I use loctite on the tube or nut?Last edited by dunno; August 5th, 2013 at 08:32 AM.
Jimmy cracked corn and HE didn't care! Why should I?
