OC ed for the very first time today.
Well thanks to some incouragement from all of the great people on this site today I decided to OC. It was a short trip so I though it a great place to start. I had to go to Giant for a few odds and ends for tonights dinner. So grew a set and figured why not OC. So I armed myself with two of those great flyers, and left the house. I got to Giant and sat in my car for about a minute and said the hell with it and got out. My shirt tucked in and my Glock 30 vary visible on my right hip. I wnet about my business with out altercation, until I came across this older lady later 60's-early 70's. As I pass he I see her look right at my hip and she says
Her:"Morning Officer"
Me: No Ma'am I am not an officer just a liscened well trained civilian taking my
second ammendment rights for a walk. In the lovely state of Pennsylvania it is completely legal to open carry your firearm with or with out a permit.
Her: I was unaware of that is it true?
Me: Yes it is I have a flyer if you are interested to read it Ma'am
Her:That is quite alright I believe you son.
Then she had this look of thought on her face and I thought oh shit here we go.
Me: Does my carrying this firearm out in the open make you uncomfortable Ma'am
Trying to guage her feelings
Her:No, not at all..... It is just unusual seeing a youngster like yourself standing up for what you believe. (I am 28) People of you generation never stand up for a damn thing. It is nice to see a young man with principles. Have a nice day son.
Me: You have a great day Ma'am and thank you for your positive response.
Her: Everyone is way to uptight now a days why should I be the same?
Before I could answer she was on her way.
Right now I am on cloud nine My cherry is busted, I really like OCing it gives me much better access to my sidearm should I ever need it. I will be OCing more little by little.

very nice... you got called officer... lol... I love talking to old ladies.. make sure you be polite and say "good morning young lady" then continue with the "i'm not an officer" speil... the elderly women love the compliment when you say "young lady" and it can make their day making them feel young again...
my goal: to get every good person in the philly region responsibly armed.

So OCing does get you the wimminz? hmmmmmmm....
philly and berks--wait until you get an old lady who takes offense to you saying hello young lady, it doesn't always go over so well. Kind of like saying to a fat person "hey skinny"Last edited by XD45; May 2nd, 2008 at 01:11 PM.

That's funny you posted that XD45.. I was thinking a 20 something year old person calling a 70+ woman "young lady" sounded a bit condescending.. ha.
Not the point of the thread in any event.. just funny you raised it.. Knight, glad you had a positive experience. Was it really such a "Leave it to Beaver" sounding conversation, or is that just how it reads..
No matter.. glad you're enjoying yourself.

No I kept it very sweet and very vanilla on purpose. Just wanted to keep her very relaxed and with a sense of calm. Trying to say hey I am a good guy.

Handled perfectly, and it showed in her reaction. Welcome to the wonderful world of OC!!!

Busting the OC cherry is a good thing indeed. Busting it as a 'young' OCer is even better. That fact you wrapped it up with a positive/informative experience, well hot damn, good on ya!
Edit: Hit me up sometime for an OC hangout, I live in Reading, but work in P-town (near 84 lumber on High).

As a matter of fact we need to organize an OC event around us, anyone else in?
