Default Another striker fired pistol option.

A few months ago I purchased a FN FNS-9 striker fired gun, I really liked what it offered so I went ahead and bought it. First impression was it seemed like a really well made gun, the only thing I didn't like was the trigger as it was heavy and gritty. Well after some dry firing and a few range trips it smoothed out and is now pretty good.

I figured I'd hold off on a report until I had some range time with it, now I have about 500rnds through it and I have to say I really like it, it's been 100% reliable with a few different types of ammo. I know it's not a lot but with the current ammo situation I have been lucky enough to get this many rnds through it along with shooting my other 9mm's.

This gun is the size of a G19 with the grip length of a G17, easy to conceal and would make a nice CCW.

For those that don't like Glocks, S&W, Springfield XD, Walther etc for whatever reason yet like the striker fired design, you may want to give the FNS a try, it's another good option for striker fired guns.

The pros of this gun IMO are:
-Great ergos with changeable back straps, one arched and one flat, I prefer the arched.
-Short reset, similar to the Glock and has a nice audible when resetting, unlike the M&Pc my wife has.
-Very accurate, as with most pistols it shoots as well as you can shoot it.
    -Comes with 3 17rnd mags
-Standard rifling so ammo other than FMJ can be used.
    -Front and rear cocking serrations.
-Slim profile and low bore axis, not quite as low as a Glock but really close.
-Full ambi controls such as mag and slide release.
    -Replaceable frame rails.
-Ambi thumb safety( Although the one I have has no safety as it's a LE model, you can find one if you look hard enough but FN will sell this model to LE only) However I have herd they may make both models available but who knows.
-Strong 3-4 o'clock ejection with no BTF.

    The Cons:
Not much after market support but some nice holster options are available.

Here's a few pics after the first 500rnds.

I think the FN pistols are under appreciated. Maybe they are not well marketed, I dunno.

I haven't shot one of these yet, but have shot an FNX 45 quite a few times and was happy with it and would buy one down the road.

FN makes a solid pistol. They don't market them very well.

Before I got this I had never even new about this pistol, my friend who is a dealer calls me up and says "I got 4 FN FNS-9 striker fired guns coming in, 3 17rnd rnd mags with night sights, do you want one" I did a quick google search and was like wow, that's a nice looking gun. So I told him I'll take one.

This gun slipped by me some how, so I would say yes they didn't market them very well as I keep up on all the latest and greatest in the gun industry. It's a shame because this gun IMO can become very popular very quick.

Being a lefty, the ambi-controls are a big selling point!

I'm a lefty pistol shooter as well, but I'm so used to right handed controls that I still use them, even on this pistol. But yes your right, the option is nice if your looking for it.

Here's a holster I got, made by Riz gear and works perfect.

Nice gun and runs the same price as other standard striker fired guns. FN should market these better unless there is more market elsewhere maybe? the american market is flooded with polymer striker fired 9/40/45 guns nowadays.

But I like options, also drives prices down.

Good to see some of these out there. I've had an FNP-9 and loved it, can't figure out why I got rid of it.
I've been considering one of these in .40 after holding one yesterday at my local Bass Pro. The grip feels great and it's about the same size and weight of my G-19, but unlike the Glock the aftermarket isn't very strong for these. There is night sight options but holsters will most likely have to be made special. I like the way they look and feel my FNP-9 handled great and reminded me of a polymer version of a Sig pistol and not the 2022.

I think the U.S. FN pistols are very underated. I have read, and heard nothing but positives about them. FN is a solid gun manufacturer.
