Re: SR 1911
Congrats. Looks like a very nice gun. My hubby has been renting various 1911s at Heritage Guild. He likes the Kimbers but not the price tag. I told him he should buy himself a Ruger 1911 for Christmas. I'd be interested to hear how you like shooting yours. Ruger makes a good product.

Re: SR 1911
Please grace these pages with your impression of this. I have been curious and curiouser about this gun. Our local GS has them for 650.

Re: SR 1911
Finally got to the range today. Really like this Ruger! Zero failures of any kind after 50 rounds, very smooth, and very accurate. Was shooting at about 25 feet and a nice tight pattern. I've struggled with some 1911's and my grip - trying to keep grip safety engaged with my thumb on thumb safety - no problem with the Ruger, nice bump out on grip safety works for me - might be just me, but has always been an issue. Looking forward to some more time at the range, but a winner so far!

Re: SR 1911
That is a really nice looking piece. I really like the size of the Commanders, think that will be my next 1911. Looks like that Ruger would fit the bill just right. Congrats on the new gun, and make sure you do an update after a bit, I'm curious to see what you think about it after some time.

Re: SR 1911
I just bought the full size SR1911 at the York show a few weeks ago for $629. Had it out twice so far, and love it. Here's the first 15 rounds thru it at about 25 ft:

Re: SR 1911
150 rounds through my sr1911 commander and I love it! Very accurate and no troubles whatsoever. Smooth feed ramp, good lockup, nice sights, and a beautiful finish with the rosewood handles. I love the way the commander is balanced too, it is easy to quickly re-aquire a good sight picture. At $650 it's a great deal; you can't go wrong!

Re: SR 1911
Wow you can finally find Ruger SR's for under $800? Maybe I will get one with my next tax return. Very nice piece by the way.
Sanity, yours if you can keep it.....
