Default How do I get my sw 9mm pistol back

I had three guns and we were moving and two of them were in my lock box and my 9 was hidden in a box of close. When me moved I found out one of my friends stole the lock box. I reported it right away and that day the detective wanted me to show them the 9. I think he thought I had something to do with stolen guns. But when I went to go look for it with the detectives at my new place I couldn't find cuz half of our stuff went to storage and the rest to the house. So we went to the storage unit and found it in the box of clothes where I hid it. So then they took my license to carry and the 9 cu they said since I didn't know the location of it they had to take my license to carry and the 9 to go through ballistic check. That was 4 years ago how do I go about getting my 9 back?

You need wait a little longer before starting the process. These things take time.

At this point, I'd say good luck.

You might want to try contacting a lawyer, GunLawyer001 on here is highly recommended and he isn't to far from your area.

Did you get a receipt and did you receive a certified letter indicating that your LTCF was revoked?

If not, I doubt there is anything you can do about it.

The police took your pistol and your ltcf 4 years ago? You're suddenly interested in doing something about it now? I would guess your gun was destroyed years ago.

I would probably wait until around the ten year mark to go after it. That way your case will be even more irrelevant to them.

That sucks, and is beyond BS, but why would you wait four years to do something?

NS I would've had a lawyer that same day like left and went straight to a lawyer. Taking both the LTCF and your 9 saying since you didn't know exactly where it was is a bs excuse. As long as it was locked up by a lock you only have access to is perfectly legit. Its like a person traveling on an airplane that puts their firearm in their luggage which is what your suppose to but do you know where it is any givin point in time. You got screwed from lack of knowledge and should've takin care of it 4 yrs ago. good luck especially where you're at.

There is no sense in which that was a legitimate seizure, or a statutorily-permitted revocation of the LTCF.

Was this the Philadelphia PD? Did they bother giving you the legally-required receipt?

I'd start by sending them a certified letter, demanding the return of the firearm.
