    Default NRA Defensive Pistol Qualification

In the latest edition of the NRA Marksmanship Qualification program, they've added two Defensive Pistol Qualification courses. I really like the DP I, especially for those who are new to defensive shooting.

Contrary to popular belief, the National Rifle Association is not just a gun rights organization but continues to follow its original mission of promoting marksmanship practice. The Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program is a self paced shooting program for many different disciplines. A new addition to the MQP is the Defensive Pistol Qualification program.

I'm glad to see they did this. A lot of the program is geared towards bulls-eye competition. I am glad to see they are catching up!

I am also glad to see that they explain drawing/etc. instead of expecting everyone to know how to do so safely.

    Thanks for sharing!

The short version is that there are six levels, each with an increasing level of difficulty in operating the pistol and decreasing Par time limits. The distance is fixed at 7 yards, the target is an NRA D-1 (the Bianchi Tombstone), and all the hits must be inside the '8' ring, which is 12 inches in diameter.
