Re: Rally in West Chester (Any Interest?)
Warwick is a bit of a hike for me down by the Oxford area so I was thinking of passing on this, but then I checked the Chester County Parks Rules & Regulations.
Rules and Regulations
Took me about half an hour to find them, since they don't link from the actual park web page, but:
5. Trapping, hunting, and /or possession of firearms are not permitted, except under special conditions established by the Department. [Section 9]
and
19. Possession of fireworks and firearms is prohibited. Possession of a knife, hatchet or axe is prohibited unless present for an appropriate use while engaged in camping. [Sections 30 & 31]
So, anyone going to the park open carrying is risking violating the county's illegal park regulations and could be subject to up to a $300 fine.
This now has me more interested, however it might be worthwhile to wait until the court cases from the Erie rally earlier this year are concluded.
I'll be planning to communicate with the Chester County commissioners on their preemption violation later this week and see what they have to say.
Edit:Actually it looks like there are several previous threads on the forum about this issue all the way back to 2009

Re: Rally in West Chester (Any Interest?)
Yes, the rules do say no firearms within the park. The parks rangers would have to choose to enforce the rule.
I can tell you that one of the rangers will not enforce it and the other probably wouldn't do anything either. There are not any local police in the township either.

Re: Rally in West Chester (Any Interest?)
If you're not familiar with the ChesCo, Warwick Park is no where near West Chester and is very secluded, so it wouldn't be a place where a gathering of gun owners would gain much attention if the intent is to foster better relations between responsible gun owners and those who think there's no need for the average citizen to carry one. A meet-n-greet there sounds like a great idea, but maybe it should be planned on a new thread.

They are there between 1100 and 1200 on Saturdays.
I just found out that the patriot group is the Sheepdogs.
