Ever Send A Firearm Back to Colt for Restoration?

Has anyone here ever sent a revolver back to Colt for restoration? I was given a Colt New Service .45 last year by a relative. Mechanically the gun is in great shape. Cosmetic appearance is far from ideal. For a revolver that is close to 100 years old, and likely seen it's share of action, it's in the condition I would expect.

I am considering having it restored but to ensure it is done correctly I am leaning toward sending it back to Colt. I am not usually a fan of restoration jobs but in this case I think it would be worthwhile.

Much of the blueing is long gone and one of the previous owners had the bright idea of etching his name and SSN on the right side of the barrel with an electric pencil. It was a gift and I have nothing invested so I can't complain. I was pleasantly surprised at the value of similar condition pieces.
