Default Low Light Home Defense Sighting Laser or Tritium

What would you put on your first line home defense handgun a laser or tritium night sights and why?

The laser can be a laser/light combo. Also please mention how you would use a white light with your setup weather its weapon mounted or handheld.

Quality night sights. PERSONALLY, you can trash the laser idea. Weapon mounted light that can be carried in hand if needed or wanted. In other words, I can leave it on the weapon or QD it and use it like a hand held light. Kills two birds with one stone. I use a TLR1 on my G17 and AR.

This may be helpful in using a weapon mounted light...

I think you need to add weapon or hand held light to your poll and also I would want all three a light a laser and tritium each have there place and that if one fails and it will you still have a least one to fall back on.crazywolf

If this question is just about tritium night sights versus a weapon mounted laser, the question of focus also is relevant. With a laser, it is necessary to focus ones eyes on the target, with tritium sights it is all front sight, baby. Which is taught, the front sight every time.

It is also important to run a little experiment, shine a red or green laser at a black shirt and note the intensity loss. It is an interesting thing to see with ones own eyes.

Night sights for me, I do not care for lasers. My front sight is what is most important to me when I practice...

You didn't leave a spot for neither. I have a mounted pistol flashlight on mine so I don't shoot someone by mistake.

I've got night sights and a Streamlight TLR-3. I want to keep it simple, which means all of my carry & HD guns are DA only, all have the same 3-dot sight picture, and I'll stick with the sights at night, instead of switching to a laser.

I've got it in a new bedside holster. It's great. Sit up in bed, swing my feet around onto the floor, and my hand naturally finds the gun right there every time. Light's attached, so I'm up and ready to go in two seconds. Also, if I'm out of bed, the sights are bright enough that I can easily find the gun as I walk to the bed in the dark.

Night sights, lasers give away your position.

Can you still see your sights well enough to aim.

I'm assuming in the scenario that a white light weather weapon or handheld will be used in addition to a laser or night sights.

Why are you aiming, that takes time. Close encounter, point shoot to center of mass.

i'd prefer a low profile laser,a laser can help you identify the target it lightens up the room a little.
