    Default Gun ID/value?

I've had this gun in the family for quite a while, but I don't know much about it beyond that. I'm hoping someone can help me identify it and maybe place some kind of value on it. I hope the pictures help.

I used the money as a reference for size. Cylinder drops out by removing pin under barrel. Holds 5 rounds.

Top of the gun is stamped:

    YOUNG AMERICA
    SAFETY HAMMER

    Barrel is stamped:

    H&R ARMS COMPANY
    WORCESTER, MASS, USA

    Hammer is stamped:

    PATENTED APRIL 5, 1807

Any info would be appreciated. I'm not even sure of the caliber. Thanks!

Maybe searching gunbrokers finished auctions will also help.

I have almost the same exact pistol. Mine reads Young America Double Action.
Yours should be chambered in .32 black powder only cartridge based on the trigger guard and no caliber markings. If you take off the grip there should be a serial # hidden underneath. Last time I checked a value was many years ago. I would guess around $100.

I have several H&R's, nice little guns. Not a very expensive gun, and value can vary depending on style, etc.. As mentioned, yours is probably a 32. Appears to be in good shape, I would put it closer to $150 or $200 if it is in great shape and in working order. But, if it is a family gun, I'd hold onto it

Black powder only. And just remember, that is .32S&W. ...not .32S&W Long.

If the bore is ok, $150-$200. The upper end would be to a collector. Typical selling price for the average Joe would be closer to $150.
