FOIAed again: ‘Gun map’ newspaper seeks more info on firearms owners

The suburban New York newspaper that created a firestorm earlier this year when it published the names and addresses of gun permit holders has requested more data regarding legal owners of firearms, apparently to determine if handgun ownership patterns have changed in the last six months.

The Journal News, a Gannett-owned paper that covers suburban counties just north of New York City, requested more personal information in May. This time, it included statistical data, as well as names and addresses of gun permit holders from Rockland, Putnam and Westchester counties.

People have a right to privacy, not the government. Wasn't that the intent of the FOIA? If this is what it's being used for, then it needs to be amended!

Sounds like the idiots at the newspaper didn't get the message. There must be real dumb asses running that thing. Of course, the local residents will probably tolerate it anyway.

Since this is round 2 with this shit. I say the gloves come off. The first incident had some really nice blowback for them. I would pour a mountain of gas on the fire.

Take whatever map they release, invert it. And post all of the homes of 'non-gun owners' on a website. Call it something like easy targets.

And watch all the non gun owners that just had their danger threshold bumped up about 10 notches writhe around in horror and lament. (Not like they would get off their couch when it wasn't them in the hot seat)

Then sit right on back, throw some popcorn in the microwave - and let the frenzied sheeple raise hell.

Nice idea, but I don't like wishing violence on anyone. I find it pathetic that the morons out there who hate guns are first to get in everyone's face with their agenda. They think they're right all the time and to hell with everyone else. I do understand your frustration, as I am also frustrated with this nonsense. Far better to round up the gun haters and force them to take a beginners class in how to safely handle a firearm. Oh yeah, make them pay for it, too. Maybe after they actually pull the trigger, they'll get it.......(or not). Some gun haters may be too dumb to be helped.
