smith and wession 500 mag hunting in PA
Hello, I Just this year found out about the 500 mag and would like to just get one for the wow factor of having a 50 cal revolver. When I saw the price of them I thought maybe not such a good Idea . The 500 mag cost almost ha much as my black gun did but that holds 30 rounds .
Over the weekend the Idea of a hand gun hunt for big game with the 500 mag relay sounded like something I would like to try . Now I want the 500 again . My question is is the 500 mag legal for hunting in PA . I Have not bin out hunting in a bout 5 or 6 years and seam to remember it being single action revolvers only is this correct . If so I will just get A black hawk in 454 casull , but i relay want the 500 mag I just ant spending that kind of money for a locker lizard (that is what I call the guns that I cant do muth with except shoot on out door ranges they just hang out in my gun locker )

A double action revolver is still considered to be manually operated.
From the PGC digest-
Deer and Bear: Regular Seasons - 1) Manually operated centerfire
rifles, handguns and shotguns with all lead bullet or ball, or bullet
designed to expand on impact

What do you plan on hunting in PA that requires a 500 Mag?

Maybe you should consider the .825 G&S Online Express Magnum since deer and bear have become immune to the lessor bullets.

500 mag is not overkill for deer!!! The .500 mag produces about the same foot pounds of energy as the .308 and no one would argue that .308 is overkill for deer. They are both in the 2600 to 3000 foot pound energy range.
As for my opinion, I think the .460 S&W is the bees knees. I would not get it in a revolver though. A nice, light single shot carbine in .460 would be very very cool and it has a flat trajectory.Join the groups protecting your rights from the fools trying to take them from you!

Over kill or not I just flat out want it because I reminds me of the gun the joker shot down the bat wing with in the original bat man movie LOL
Come on it is just bad ass and it is a smith and Wesson revolver. I just wanted to know if it was legal to hunt with in PA. Double action revolvers legal for big game
thank you for the response to my thread
