So I have this extractor kit comming from Brownells. What is up with this O ring? Where is this supposed to go? Here is the link.

it goes over the spring to create a firmer spring good for use with steel case shells, etc

The O ring goes on your extractor, if you take your bolt apart (push the little pin) Turn it over and there is a little spring with the O ring, this is the part to be replaced. Look at the pic I attached.

I wouldn't worry about installing it.

The O ring typically is used as a band aid with S/A guns to boost the extraction deficiencies of the old blue insert/weaker 4 coil spring and is un necessary with that kit. The black insert and proper spring that comes with that kit is enough for normal operation across a broad range of usage for most gas systems. Many manufacturers of high quality and properly spec'd bolts no longer install them either ( the Colt bolt and BCM bolt I own came without the O ring installed and run great ) The O ring was originally designed for the Mk18 SBR and helped extraction with the gun during full auto and surpressed usage and still has a place in usage there or if you have the older blue insert etc. ( which you wont after getting that kit )

It scares me that you would know this. Although, to each his own.... I'm not judging
