You need a standard license, and an archery license IF you are going to hunt deer with it.

All the other little nits will be in the magazine / book they send you.

If you haven't taken the hunter safety course... ugh... you must do that too before you get a license... also applies if you can't find any of your old hunting licenses, or the card I think.

Well, you can get away without the course if you want, but if you haven't taken it, it is worth the few hours, especially if you have never hunted. I just got back from picking my license up from Wally World, all I needed to show was my driver's license. No old license or HSC card.

If you have hunted, just not archery, the only additional requirement is the archery tag, which they will print up right there in the store for you.

To hunt in archery season you need the archery stamp/tag.

If you plan to hunt solely in the regular "rifle" season all you need is the standard hunting license.

And of course, you must have taken the Hunter Safety class.

There are also specifics on draw weights and broadhead sizes.

The hunter safety course is free and provided by the state. Though, at this time of year, you may be hard pressed to find an open slot with the season about to open. Below is a link to where you can find the info and try to register.

If you're asking this question, then you need to take the course. It is the law..

I took your OP to mean that you never bow hunted before.
    Not never hunted.

If you never hunted you need to take a course.

You must take the Hunter's Safety Course if your are a first time hunter and have never taken that course. An option to consider, but not required, is the Bow Hunter Safety Course. If you are a first time bow hunter this course would give you great info and advice. There might be a small charge for the Bow HUnter course but the Basic Hunter Safety Course is free of charge.
