Default Is the UTAH training required for RENEWAL

I know this topic has been talked about a lot in regards to obtaining your permit in UTAH.

I have a Florida CCW and am contemplating obtaining the UTAH since the renewal is much more affordable.

My question is as follows: Do you have to take the UTAH class each time you renew your permit or for the initial permit only. I can not seem to find the answer on previous threads posted.

    Regards,

    Greg

For those who don't feel like clicking the link, the answer is no. You just send in your application and money, they renew your permit and conduct another background check.

their website says something about a "renewal sticker".

do you get a new physical permit or is the "renewal sticker" like an update.

similar to a residence update if you change your drivers license?

I am definately going to get a Utah when my Florida expires since the renewal will be cheaper. For now Florida will suffice.

    Regards,

    Greg

    The details .....

RENEWING YOUR UTAH CONCEALED FIREARM PERMIT

    WHEN

The Utah concealed firearm permit is valid for a period of five years. The Bureau of Criminal Identification will send a renewal application to you approximately one month prior to your expiration.

*Make sure to let us know if you move so we can update our records. If you do not, you may not receive the reminder notice to renew.

    HOW

Simply complete the renewal application form and return it to the Bureau of Criminal Identification with your check or money order. (Form requires Adobe Reader. To download the FREE Adobe Reader, visit the Adobe® web site.)

    Bureau of Criminal Identification
    3888 West 5400 South
    Box 148280
    Salt Lake City, UT 84114-8280.

    * Of course you may also turn in your application in person as well.

    Download a renewal application here

    COST

The cost of renewal is $10.00. This may be paid by check or money order. We recommend you do not send cash in the mail.

    PROCESS

Once we receive a renewal application the permit immediately gets renewed for the next five years. A renewal sticker will be sent to the permit holder approximately one to two weeks prior to the date of expiration. This is regardless of when the renewal application is received.

    BACKGROUND CHECK

Occasionally a permit holder gets involved in criminal activity which results in the revocation of his or her permit. The renewal process also includes conducting another background check. However, the renewal is automatic. There will be no break in the validity period of a permit. Even in cases where a criminal incident needs to be investigated, the permit remains valid until the investigation is complete. If corrective action is ultimately needed, the permit holder will be notified. This is why it is possible that a permit holder may receive a renewal sticker and then a short period later receive a letter revoking the permit.
