I bought an M&P. Tell me what you wish someone told you.
I got a M&P 9mm compact yesterday. What do you wish someone had told you when you bought your M&P?

That I would spend entire paychecks on reloading supplies because I'd end up shooting it so much! Enjoy it, they are great guns.

Yeah I agree, you'll love it. I carry mine in a Galco King Tuck IWB or Crossbreed. If I were to give you advice, get full size mags and the X Grip for some added flexibility.

That I would be less than impressed and like my CZ75 P01 and a hammer fired action a lot better.

i have a M&P 40 and it's a great gun, has been 100% reliable and accuracy is on par with my HK and SIG 40 cal pistols. Not much to tell other than they are great guns.

Re: I bought an M&P. Tell me what you wish someone told you.
If it's current production, the trigger pull should be improved over that which was normal for the M&P handguns when first introduced. The trigger pulls on the earlier models sucked, and that catapulted Apex to fame with their aftermarket fire control group parts. I did not elect to spend the $$$ for the Apex stuff for my early all-black M&P45C, and simply hand-polished the firing pin block linkage and components. Made a world of difference, using materials on hand vs. spending over $100. When I bought the second used M&P45C in FDE two-tone, it was late production and had the improved factory FCG parts and needed only slight polishing to improve the pull. Aside from the trigger pull of the early M&P handguns . . .
There's only one "point of interest" regarding the M&P handguns, and that is when disassembling the slide from the frame, you MUST reach in through the ejection port and rotate the yellow-painted dogleg-bent thin lever forward into the magwell PRIOR to removal of the slide.
If you don't do that, the slide won't come off the frame.
The yellow lever is pushed back into place when a magazine is installed in the magwell following reassembly.
Enjoy your M&P9C. Here are the two M&P45C handguns I have, and I love them:
