sanctioned match = IDPA HQ approved match that is held to a higher standard, is more challenging and draws competitors from all over, not just locally.

SSP-SS = Stock Service Pistol (division) - SharpShooter (classification)

23 of 96 overall = there were 96 people competing (this means ALL division and ALL classifications) and Brian was 23rd out of that 96 which included people classified as higher than him.
