Default Open Carry Encounters - an idea

For those of you who open carry and encounter a LEO and have a positive experience. You should consider getting their name and badge number and sending their service department a letter on their behalf commending their professionalism and technical knowledge and awareness of Pennsylvania law.

You never know, if enough officers get positive community feedback for such recognition. Word might get around, knowledge and education spread. And when they encounter a similar situation, they'll be more likely to continue responding in like manner.

That's actually not a bad idea for fostering some good will.

I think that's a splendid idea. Everyone loves to hear that they did a good job.

Has anyone had a negative experience in York county? BTW if I see an OCer getting some flack talk in Shrewsbury etc by a local cop, I will come over and say I know about OC and like seeing it. I will say it makes me feel safer! Yes I will stand behind you. Just wish I coulda chatted it up with the guy at the Walmart the other day.

Great idea but I still won't open carry. Those hassles make me feel uneasy and I want to avoid them whenever possible.

Excellent idea. Were all primed and ready to dispense info to their superiors if they are ignorant of rights/laws, we should be just as ready to commend them for supporting us and our personal safety. Plus, LEOs jobs get the same issues as 'service comment' cards at businesses; they only get filled out and sent in when something goes wrong.

As the saying goes...you attract more bees with honey than with vinegar. Though I never quite understood why one wanted to attract bees to begin with. The only reason people tend to want bees is for honey. And what's the point of using honey to get bees?

    *lol*

BTW, never say "It's like trying to put a square peg in a round hole." This just shows how little you know about old building techniques. As all the old post and beam houses were built by hammering a square peg into a round hole.

Sending a follow up letter for a positive experience is always a good idea. It is something talked of often over on opencarry.org forums.
It is my understanding that most dept's keep these letters in the LEO's file.
