I like to know if PA. will issue a non-resident carry handgun license?
I have a friend who is looking to retire to N.C. who lives on long island n.y.
and we started talking about north carolina :The subject went on and on and I did explain I myself own a second home in N.C.
I also live on the island and retired from law enforcement and have my Concealed Lic: to carry in the state and in N.Y.C.
I know from speaking with law enforcement in N.C. they do not reciprocity with N.Y. not many states do:I been told they will honor my Lic: but the real truth is you still are not allow to have the firearm.I was thinkng is getting a Fla. non-resident but I been told CENTRE COUNTY PA will issue a non resident Lic: with .
    1. present copy of a Lic: to carry (concealed) from my state
2, present copy of my driver Lic:
3, $26.00 fee and complete gun application
I see they have one of 4 boxes to check I was wondering which one to go with
    self-defense employment
    target hunting @fishing
The guy I spoke with say he cheched hunting and fishing :He did show me the lic: from Centre County and all it state is Lic To carry
I was think this would be the best route to take as long a do spend about 5 months each year in the state.
North Carolina and South Carolina do reciprocity with PA:
I would like to here from guys that have any other helpfull info on the above subject

N.C. does honor our permit and unlike S.C. you do not actually have to be a resident of PA for them to accept it.

PA requires that you have a permit from your resident State if they are available (no matter how difficult it may be to obtain). You stated you have a NY permit but not if your friend did.

While PA does offer a non-resident permit it seems some counties are more likely to than others. I'm sure someone will chime in with more knowledge of which ones are better.

Centre county is tprobably the easiest.
As mentioned above, you must have a non-restricted permit from your home state if they issue them (NY does).

Unlike NY, you do not need to show "special need" for a permit.

I'm not certain. Even if they don't though PA recognizes both the Utah and N.H. permits.

Too bad I can't get a PA nonresident permit, but I can get VA nonresident. If PA is so gun friendly, they need to get rid of that " must have home state permit first" requirement. It is unfair to those of us stuck in commie pinko states like MD and NJ, or those in commie counties of NY. So as it goes I have to get a FL permit.

Sorry for the venting, I just hate stupid laws...

Old thread. Is Centre County still friendly to non-residents seeking LTCFs?

    Any others come to mind?

My buddy from NY got a PA non resident permit. I know Pike County doesn't do non resident permits anymore. I guess they couldn't keep up with the demand.

Yes, but changes in State law requires you to apply in person. Therefore, look for a county that may be more convenient to you.
IANAL. I don't give legal advice. I'm only stating my OPINION.
(Did I really need to say that on an Internet forum? LOL)
