Japanese Type I rifle Carcano in 6.5x50 jap (Italian Made)
Please help me identify my Mauser Style Rifle.
It doesn't have any markings except the serial number C 8693.
I also believe that it is missing the top piece of the stock.
I did a little research and believe that it is a 7mm ZAR or Chilian.
I will appreciate any help I can get.
Thanks,
Sevi

Re: Mauser Identification Help
Don't think this is a Mauser action (or it is a very early one). Looks more like a type of a Mannlicher-Schoenaur.
Whatever it is its early. My guess pre-1880's. Looking forward to getting an answer.
Do you know it is 7MM a lot of Mannlichers were 6.5mmLast edited by Delkal; June 23rd, 2013 at 03:22 PM.

Re: Mauser Identification Help
it's a japanese carcano in 6.5 jap. The japs ordered them from the italians early on in the war, but neither side wanted anyone to know where they came from, hence the lack of markings. They were a substitute standard rifle that the japs never really used other then for their "home guard". that particular rifle has been sporterized slightly and in that condition is probably worth less then $100.

Thats it! Thanks raxar!
I got it for $40, so can't beat that price.
Is 6.5x50 something that is readily available?

Re: Japanese Type I rifle Carcano in 6.5x50 jap (Italian Made)
ammo is around, every place I checked online is sold out but I've seen it at a couple local shops. Graf & sons loads it, and possibly prvi partizan. I'm sure if you wait it will come back in stock, as this isn't a popular round.
You're going to be paying around $30 a box, but you're getting very good ammo.
