Default How long does it take to get LTCF in Dauphin county

    Hi all,

as I mentioned in my first thread I am pretty new to this.

I think I figured out that it will be much easier (to be compliant with the law) to transport a handgun to the shooting range with LTCF than without.
I live in Hummelstown which is Dauphin county.

Does anybody know how long it takes, to get such a license. I assume that I meet the criteria and I know what paperwork is needed. I heard they will need about 2 weeks to one month to process the application, is that true?

    Thanks for any input!
    Chris

By law the Sheriff has 45 days within which he will conduct the background investigation and either approve or deny.

Sometimes it takes less time than that.

Completely false. They may choose to take that much time, but they only need a couple minutes, and several counties do process and issue while you wait. I don't know how Dauphin county works, efficiently like some counties, or if they drag their feet just to make the process difficult like some other counties do.

When you take the application to the sheriffs office, they take your picture, and you pay half the cost. When you go back you pay the rest and had you your license. That's how it happened for me and if I remember correctly it took about 2 weeks.

Congrats. I guess you got to meet one of Jack Lotwick's "finest" deputies.

I'll also guess you gave up your SSN for Jack Lotwick's illegal SSN requirement.

Finally got to go today actually. Got stuck in traffic and finally found a place to park 2 min after 4 so I didn't get to submit my form. As far as the ss requirement, they have your number anyway and just like any form it supposedly speeds up the process :/ not much of a hassle compared to a nfa item or what not.

Debating on keeping my ms ccw and just using it since it covers pa and in ms I can carry in a court house

What do you mean "they have your number anyway"? The sheriff's office shouldn't have your SSN unless you've previously provided it to them.

Just to clarify, you do realize you can't carry in a PA courthouse using a MS (or any other state's) permit, right?

Very well aware, just in ms they can easily capture your ssn off their onboard pc's once try run your tag or license, example I had to provide my ss card with number when I transferred my cdl to pa

FYI they also know you have a ccw/ltcf or whatever when they run your tag or your license. Why do you think they expect you to provide your d/l for a ccw? Pdot has your info"including ss#" cross reference with d/l, attach tag that citizen has ccw. I asked my uncle this who is a detective with pa and he confirmed this just minutes ago.
