Default Some Oregon residents arm themselves on 'Glock blocks' amid rising crime

    http://www.foxnews.com/us/2013/06/18...-rising-crime/

Crime in an Oregon county has reportedly gotten so bad that residents are vowing to protect themselves on so-called “Glock blocks” instead of awaiting authorities to respond.

KOIN.com reports that Coy Tolonen, who lives in unincorporated Clackamas County, and a group of Jennings Lodge residents are responding to escalating crime in their neighborhood by posting fliers that read: “This is a Glock block. We don’t call 911.”

“We’re starting a new group,” Tolonen said. “We don’t feel neighborhood watch is sufficient, and we don’t feel the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office is sufficient.”

Petty crime like stolen lawn ornaments and other acts of vandalism are plaguing the area, said Tolonen, whose lawn statue was recently stolen from her front porch.

“I will defend myself — and my home,” she told KOIN.com.

Tolonen, who saw the man who stole the statue and unsuccessfully tried to apprehend him, decided to get a concealed carry permit following the incident.

“I think more people should be trained [with] permits to carry,” she said, adding that all of her neighbors have licenses to carry.

I love it, I am going to try and start a glock block where I live.

I really don't think I will shoot someone for kidnapping a garden gnome.

Sheesh! I wish the only crime in my 'hood was somebody trying to take a garden gnome. If the theft of a garden gnome justifies a Glock, we should start something called "AK Avenue!"

    My gnomes can protect themselves.

Bear spray or airsoft guns. A proper gas or battery powered airsoft gun will leave a mark and sting like crazy. Shoot someone with a 150 round mag of .25g BB's and they wont forget it.

I keep a battery powered AK with 150 round mags handy for a non lethal option for birds, jehovah's witnesses, bears, garden gnome stealers, cats, you name it. The AK will hit a man sized target out to 75 yards.

It's nice to have an option between nothing and just blowing someone away.
