Default Man Killed During South Strabane Bank Robbery

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – One person has died after being shot during a bank robber in South Strabane Township.

It happened Sunday afternoon around 2:30 p.m. at the Citizen’s Bank inside of the Giant Eagle grocery store at Strabane Square.

The Washington County Coroner says 46-year-old Vincent Kelley died of multiple gunshot wounds. Kelley was shot after following the bank robber out of the store and trying to prevent him from driving away.

Damn shame, sounds like the wrong guy died.

Condolences to his family. Gutsy move, but it sounds as though just reacted without thinking. I wonder if there is more to the story?

I was at the giant eagle a few hours before this.

I was in my kitchen and heard everything on the scanner. Scary.

Brought a knife to a gun fight. Kudos for his courage, but not smart in multiple ways

Probably unwise to chase a bank robber that is armed with a gun. However, reading these many stories I'm beginning to think the prudent move in the presence of police , for whatever reason, is to lie on the ground and be still.

I hope more details are released.

God damnit. Thoughts going out to his family.

Others have already said it - he was the right guy in the right place, but it doesn't sound like he thought out his actions very thoroughly at all. The stress of the situation probably didn't help him, either.

Banks have a policy to prohibit this sort of death, which the general population should follow unless their life or others are in danger.

Allow the criminal to flee, the money is covered by insurance and it's NOT worth risking your life.

Again, banks have a policy to give the person what they want and let the criminal leave. DO NOT GO AFTER HIM! COMMON SENSE!
