Sight Options after Shortening Barrel

Looks good, you did very well in terms of bang for your buck. If you decide the pistol grip is a little rough to shoot, there are "birds head" style grips that are supposed to be a little easier on the hands, but I have no direct experience there.

I aim my SD shotgun. Now if I'm shooting trap or skeet with a shotgun that fits, that's a different story.

Hmmm. Now I am curious. Understand that I am not asking this to be contrary or start an argument...
When you aim the thing, is this practice to which you are referring or have you frequent occasions to use the gun for real?
If practicing....have you tried the point and shoot drill? Seems to me that at typical in home engagement distances - inches to maybe 15 yards - shouldering and pointing would work as well and more quickly than trying to position the aiming eye properly.Buckshot? Slugs, yeah, gotta aim,.

You're on the right track. Typical shotgun spread increases 1" per yard of travel. That means the size of the pattern at 3 yards (a indoor encounter) would be approximately 3-4". Since shot placement is critical, I aim. I only load "00" buck and slugs for SD, and I do practice, but I typically practice with #7 1/2 shot on paper and steel human silhouettetargets. BTW, "00" buck shot at about 7 yards produces a 7-8 inch spread out of my shotgun.
