    Default Any local Garand owners?

Hi all, I'm thinking about picking up a Garand, and while I've handled a few, I've never had a chance to fire one. I was hoping to find a local who might be willing to give me a basic how-to on operation, and maybe let me put a few rounds downrange. I'm not a newbie to firearms, just to the M1. I'd be more than happy to pay for any ammo, not looking to shoot a bunch, just maybe a clip or two to get a feel for the rifle. I'd also be willing to bring a pistol or two along to let you fire in exchange if you'd prefer. Thanks in advance guys

Wish I could help you but I carried one in the USMC and swore I would never lay hands on one thereafter. Same for the BAR. I saw one in a gun shop a few months ago (asking price $4500) and walked away as quickly as I could. But both are proven reliable weapons.

I'm not "local", but if you ever get in the York area I'd be happy to give you the run thru and fire one of mine.

I love them, almost every range trip includes some M1 time ;-)

I've got one and plenty of Ammo. My schedule is booked for the next week but starting the weekend of the 21st my schedule frees up. Let me know if you want to try to get together and shoot it. Also of note, Scotia's "main range" and other stuff inside the gate are "closed" this weekend (June 15-16) for a youth shooting event.

Hey, sounds like a Scotia get together starting to happen. That weekend is far enough in advance that I can probably get there too. I can bring my M1 (and my M1 carbine) also. Will also give me a chance to sight in my new SP101 with CT grips.

Sounds good to me, I haven't shot my carbine in a WHILE either so it would be a good excuse to get her out and stretch the ol' legs.

I'd like to get in on that as well. I would be willing to help with the cost of ammo, or you can shoot some of my stuff. Of course a lot of you guys already have AR's and XD's.

Only problem is, I haven't had a hunting license in years, so they won't let me in at Scotia. I do have a membership at Spring Township though.
