Default Stopped again for oc in Clifton Heights.

I was stopped again for oc. I did the whole am I being detained thing. I was. I know I should not talk to cops but I was in that mood and I did. I was basicly told I can be stopped just for oc. I was also told They can stop me and id me for any reason.

They clearly did not get the required training on oc. I was pissed off a bit extra because my 9 year old daughter was with me. But when we were on the way home I asked if she was afraid and she said "No, I will probably be stoppd when I grow up and carry like that". It upsets me that she is probably right but I am happy that she feels the way she does.

My memory is a bit fuzzy about the exact discussion because of the level of anger I was feeling. I will be speaking with the Chief this time. There was a drug house on my block last year and nothing was done about it untill one of the guys shot someone and the other was arrested for parole violations. Yet they bust the balls of a guy walking to the store with his kid.

Sounds like a visit to the station and a letter is in order.

It's more of a "how dare YOU carry like me... Non-cop"

I will be setting up an apointment to see the Chief. I was going to approach him at a community event a few weeks ago but I felt the time and place was not right.

I have been dealing with some other stuff lately but I will take this further this time. I was so angry my knees were shaking. My mind was cluttered and I could not remember some of the important court cases to make my points. When I see the Chief I will have some notes with me. If I don't get satisfaction I will be going to the next town meeting. If that dosen't work maybe I will run for Mayor.

Seconding this. Don't beat yourself up. Learn from it, talk to the chief, file a citizens complaint if you think it is needed. Officers should be expected to know and follow the law.

From what I've heard from others (whatever that's worth) one or two complaints against an officer may not be that big of a deal, but if enough complaints build up, the higher ups do take notice.
