Gun Vise
Seeking brand name advice about purchasing a quality gun-smith style vise with some weight to it that will be used to maintain a variety of firearms and also be useful for minor gun-smithing for self. Those I've seen for sale are either of wood or plastic construction with few or no metal components. I have a cheapo wooden one but it is of no help with handguns and AR style weapons. What say you all?

Re: Gun Vise
I have a large (all metal) vice that must weigh over 50 pounds. Whatever you put in it once you crank it down it will not move! It is bolted to a sturdy bench with big lug nuts. Try and find an antique one, they knew how to make them back then. And bigger is ALWAYS better, a small wobbly vice won't cut it.
For more delicate firearms work you can use lead or leather shims to avoid marring the finish.
