Your average gun cleaning time?
I shoot weekly, usually taking 3-4 guns and sometimes a semi rifle. A buddy of mine asked me how long it takes me to clean my guns and I said about 1hr per gun, 1.5 for an ar. He told me that is insane and with how much I clean I should be a lot faster. I have a lot of guns so it might be months before I shoot the gun again in my rotation so I do a very detailed clean afterwards. How long does it take you guys and to what level of cleaning do you do. I do full cleans and get all the internal surfaces/component cleaned.

With guns I shoot regularly about 5-10 minutes.

Re: Your average gun cleaning time?
It depends. Sometimes they get the outside wiped down and hit with the bore snake. (5 minutes) Sometimes they get detail stripped and it takes a while. Sometimes they go to a buddy's and get placed in the sonic tank. It just depends on how much they get cleaned.

On Average, 15 minutes, included de-carbonizing the ar bolt.
My 1911, about 5 to 10 minutes, not that much to clean on them.

Re: Your average gun cleaning time?
Thanks for the replies, maybe I'm being too detailed. I go. Through a box of swabs and clothes on 4 guns easily.

Re: Your average gun cleaning time?
used to take me a long time. Untill I discovered a funny little thing called a (bore snake)! For the longest time I just couldn't see paying $20 for a piece of string. Now my guns are clean in half the time and I have one for every caliber. My days of endless dirty patches are a thing of the past. Still can't believe how long it took me to get one. I'm a frickin dumb ass!!!

I wouldnt say your too detailed... Id say your doing it the hard way. take it to a slop sink/laundry tub and scrub it with soap and water and a small toothbrush, blow dry with air hose/ hairdryer whatever, then oil.

Before Froglube, about 15 minutes. After Froglube, 5 minutes or less. I don't buy into snake oil products, but I can tell you with 100 percent certainty that the stuff works, and works well.

Re: Your average gun cleaning time?
Agree with all the previous advice... all rifles need to be raped by the bore snake if nothing else.
Preaching to the choir, but any gas fed rifle (AR) gets dirty from just 1 round.
