Your carry gun as well? I ask because I know that people practice a lot of juju when it comes to keeping a carry gun clean. They'll shoot 500 trouble free rounds in an afternoon, and then have to run home and clean it before running to walmart, thinking that it's going to jam on the 501st round. I know this, because I'm one of them.

I carry a revolver and mostly I wipe down the outside and check for major build-up of crud.

Are you heating the metal with your regular cleanings with FL or just wipe down, brush and patch?

I just wipe the gun down, run a froglubed bore snake down the barrel, and smear a small amount on the inside the frame, and inside the slide. I've got about 1,000 rounds through it since the initial heat treat application, and it still bleeds as much lube when it heats up as it did right after the initial application. I do plan on doing the heat treat application every six months though, but I don't think that it will really be necessary. I just feel like I should do something.

ETA: I also smear it all over the outside of the barrel.

Just a single heat in 6 mos vs. the 3x that many do?

Correct. When I treated it the first time I did it twice in one day. And when I did it, the gun was HOT, not just warm like they recommend. Granted, maybe something crazy will happen and it will dry out in the next 100 rounds, but I think that's highly unlikely. The first 500 I put through it, I didn't add any more to the gun when I cleaned it. I just wiped it all out. It was still bleeding the same amount of lube. After that, I started adding a small amount to the aforementioned surfaces out of feeling the need to do something with the gun, as it was and still is a completely different situation than what I'm used to with the weapon shield that I always ran.

So, a single treatment with heat?

Yes, "single" in that I only had the gun all tore apart one time. I lubed it, heated it for 2 hours, let it cool, wiped it off, relubed, heated it again for another two hours, and then put it all back together.
