    With a little practice, and keeping the barrel tipped up, the Ruger Mark II isn't that bad. It is definitely a great gun. I've had mine over ten years and shot it in a league so I've lost count of how many rounds are through it. It will probably get passed down to my sons and grandkids.

    I have two Mk II's and a Mk I in the Ruger 0.22 LR. Taught my then 8 year old son to field strip and clean (he is now 35!).took all of 5 minutes to teach him. As long as you remember to tip the gun up so that the hammer strut is free of the cross pin, and then pull the trigger, it is no worse than running a patch through a rifle. Dave_n
